Director – Will Werner
Will serves as the Director of the Geospatial Collaborative at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. It is his goal to work to include as many multidisciplinary approaches and influences as possible in this Collaborative. He sees GIS/Geospatial techniques as an important tool and approach to help visualize data, but he sees it only strengthened when paired with other disciplines.
Will holds two master’s degrees. Will earned his most recent master’s at the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security, focusing on strategy and intergovernmental relations specific to Homeland Security. He completed his first at the University of Missouri – St. Louis in Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJ) in 2011.
Prior to this role, Will spent 9 years working for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department working in Planning and Research and in the Intelligence Division. Will has also had success leading non-profit boards serving law enforcement, government, and children with special needs. Will served as President of and on the Executive Board for the International Association of Law Enforcement Planners (IALEP). Similarly, He served as the President of the Young Professionals’ Board for KEEN, an organization serving children with special needs.
Will was also selected as a 40 under 40 Leader to watch by the International Association of Chiefs of Police in 2020.
